Like "Pool Horizontal", the companion to this print, this print is not really an image of a pool at all. In fact, it is the late summer watercourse of a mountain stream as it heads out into the flatlands at the mouth of the steep canyon from which it arises. At its headwaters deep in the canyon, even in late summer it is a series of cold, deep pools, but by the time it reaches this place it is warm and placid and bears no resemblance to its origins far upstream.
